The relevance of echoes
"We might be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us."
The past has a mean way of proving that. Especially when I begin to forget it.
Annnyway - so I've happened upon something via my usual channels that seems to be the epitome of why other countries consider Americans to be wildly, well, stupid.
I present to you - Blogs For Terri. For those of you in the rest of the world (since I doubt any Americans won't know what this is about) check this story for the background. My opinions of the entire thing aren't important. This is an ethics call. Both sides have differing fundamental views on the entire situation.
What is worth noting, on this "Blogs For Terri" site is how insane people become when the worlds 2 most horrible topics meet: Religion and Politics. Throw in a flurry of emotion, and you got yourself one gigantic miserable ensemble of ignorance.
Take a look at these eloquent blog posts from the site:
If Terri is allowed to die, I will boycott everything Florida, including ol' Jeb should he ever run for president. I only have a family of 5, but the last time we vacationed in Florida, we spent $2,000. I don't need France's wine and cheese and I don't need Florida's fruit, beaches, vacation homes, or anything else they have to offer.
Her only hope now, other than our prayers, is for President Bush or Governor Bush to rescue her. Clinton twice used troops (Waco and Elian Gonzales) to do less. The time is now.
As much as I admire President Bush, I have to admit I'm very disappointed in him for his stance that he's done everything he can do. Don't remember where I read this (I think it was WorldNetDaily), but it didn't sound like he was willing to go as far as Clinton did.
Can't Jeb Bush hold Greer in contempt of Congress and arrest him and then send in marshals to get Terri?
Send in the National Guard. I am afraid I would have to do whatever it took to get my daughter. I am a mother and I know how Terri's mother must be feeling.
Eh - that's enough. This is getting depressing. Most of these posts just compound my whole, "I hate people who believe in things passionately." ideology. And I don't mean that in the way it sounds. I only say that because whenever people become really, really stupid, it's usually because their passions and emotions have seriously warped their ability to grasp logic and reality. These people are talking about sending armed troops.. to fucking FLORIDA.
