Okay - so I want to plug a cute little toy that's cool enough to be my cool gadget of the month. It's the MPIO FL 100. No, it's not as hip as the ipod is now - but much like Burberry scarves I'm beginning to think far too many people have ipods. The mpio doesn't have a multi-gig hdd like an ipod nor the posh Apple brand name, BUT - it is an incredibly light, portable, stylish mp3 player in its own right. It has an internal 128mb memory card and expandable SD memory slot (which is good for me because my digital camera uses SD memory as well). The internal memory can hold about 25 songs or a little over two albums worth of music - which thus far has been enough for me, though I do intend on picking up a new SD card for it.

But the mpio FL100 also has an FM radio player, can record audio through a built in mic as well as directly from the radio source, and a tiny AAA battery is good for.. wait for it... 11 hours of play time.

My mom bought me it for my 21st on a whim (she was actually going to get me a mini ipod but they were sold out, so she settled on the mpio) and I have to say it's something that I use almost every day. I'm pretty impressed. The idea of a mp3 player never really appealed to me because I thought "I can just record to CD-R.. what's the big deal?" But the ease and portability of these little, light, players makes it very worth while.

Oh - and it's only about $130. Nice.

A day late but - Happy Holy Week everyone! When I was a good little altar boy, Holy Week was my favorite time to serve. I love the theatrics of Holy Thursday and Good Friday. I always felt so.. in control, because I insisted on being the lead server during the masses on those days, and those days are full of the most dramatic and ceremonial events in Catholicism. It's probably bad that I was always more interested in making the mass "look good" rather than in the purpose of the mass itself.. :( I still remember leading the ending procession that closes Holy Thursday mass, and how deliberate and slow I paced it. I bet the kids in church were going crazy at how slow it was, but in my mind that's how it was supposed to be. It's supposed to be solemn and brooding. So that's how I did it. And the priest, Fr. Barr (who's now a Monsignor) always was glad that I did it that way.

I got home from Sean's party about an hour ago. I stopped off for some more dinner afterwards because although sushi is good, it's not entirely filling and I was still a bit peckish when I got out. I brougt over a bottle of Danzka vodka because I couldn't find Sapporo beer outside of single cans. It feels so adult to be bringing over a bottle of alcohol to a dinner party. I like it... and, I don't.

So.. ACen is about a month away. I am actually starting to get a little excited about it. I didn't expect to. The last year or so, pretty much ever since ACen 03, I have been very out of anime. But right before I left for Florida I started re-watching Initial D on a whim and fell back in love with it. I've been dligiently replying to the Eva email via my site I've been getting, and for all intents and purposes I feel more in tune with anime than I had been previously. It'll probably wear off after I finish Initial D again, but at the moment - I'm really looking forward to Anime Central 2004 :) Staying awake for 72hrs straight it always fun.

And, ladies, help me out here... why are you so anxious to settle down? Is it the maternal instinct? Why don't you want freedom too? Why don't you want to have all your options left open? To do whatever, whenever, you want.. and not have to answer to anyone? Is that not appealing?

I guess men and women are just different, no matter how much people try to prove they're the same.

God.. I think it's been almost two months since we last did an episode. I wonder if anyone will listen to 126... ?

Anyway - it's good to be back home. Last week's spring break was very busy and I never really had a chance to catch my breath. Flying was stressful and although I acknowledge its importance, relative safety, and convience - I still say I don't like it and I don't like doing it. So there! Meh!

Disney World was more fun than I excpected and I really enjoyed the whole robot thing going on in most of their rides... It'd been about 17 years since I was last there, so I didn't remember much of what the rides were like. The roller coasters are pretty tame ( made me want to head to Six Flags again..) but that's to be expected considering the target audiences. Space Mountain's darkness made an otherwise standard coaster pretty fun. But I really enjoyed the classics. The things that are unique to Disney and aren't done, or done better, elsewhere. Like Pirates of the Carribean, The Haunted Mansion, Snow White and of course It's a Small World. That's what I think of when I think of Disney World.

I got a pretty funny pic from the Buzz Lightyear ride of me and my mom. I'll scan it when I can.

I also went to Universal Studios, which I wasn't expecting to be able to do. Back to the Future remains the best ride there and perhaps the best "fake" roller coaster around - due in part to the intimacy of the car (not being in the equivalent to a theater has something to do with that) - and the kickass size and scope of the screen really set it apart. Very fun times.

While in Florida I also hit the beach a couple of days and got some color. I forgot how much healthier I look with a tan. Now I need to use that sunless tanning stuff to keep it up. Don't want to get wrinkles.

My nose is peeling.

Anyway... I'm heading out to a sushi party at Sean's tonight and I figured I'd bring some Sapporo or vodka with. Need to get ready.
