I don't even like poetry.

I spent a lot of time today running around. At first I was intent on heading down to Belmont to pick up a present for Sarah, but then I realized that would be $3.00 roundtrip on the L, and clinging to every last cent now I decided it was about time I got my CTA pass from school. So I headed down to the student affairs building and talked to a chap that reminded me of the TA from 3 South (on the site, he's the on second from the right). Felt bad for him. Then he asked if I had a passport photo. I said "No." He said, "Well you need one. You should go to Walgreens or something and get one, then come back."

Now, the only Walgreens I can think of in the immediate vecinity is.. well.. nowhere near the immediate vecinity. So instead I started walking down streets in search of a building with the words "Passport photos here!" in neon lights (I'm serious). I found a camera store that had this neon light, but when I walked in I realized its location in relation to Columbia made it a prime hangout for photography kids. It was packed, and after waiting 20mins to talk to someone about a passport photo, I was told I had to talk to someone else to get it. I wasn't prepared to wait another 10min in line, so I took off and continued my oddyssey. Luckily, a few paces down the street I found yet another photo store. This time however, there was no magical neon sign to guide me - so instead I took a stab in the dark and just asked them if they did passport photos.

$14.95 for two photos. What the fuck?

So instead of spending $3.00 I was ending up spending almost $20 to get my CTA pass to save said $3. It wasn't adding up.

But the best part of this story is that after I finally had the photos in my posession and I headed back to the student affairs building to get my pass, I was told it'd take 7-10 business days to process my order.

So after all that, I still had to pay the $3 to take the L to Belmont.

Even more entertaining was that they didn't even have what I went to get. Stopped at 3 shops and none had the 'gift' in the size I was looking for.

*sigh*

So it was a very uneventful, dreary, day.

I'm gonna go to sleep now. Tomorrow I'll talk about the homeless person who tricked me into buying a $5 book of (bad) poetry by other homeless people (sort of like the way I tricked myself into thinking I liked tofu hotdogs - until I realized how fucking terrible they are tonight). I guess that's what I get for doing the "I don't see/hear you" routine for the last 2 months. But now I'm caught up. I had a pretty good run... next time I'll be ready.

• I've eaten more Chinese food in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 6 months.

• My DSL installation kit is being held captive in the building office because it couldn't fit in my mailbox, and I got home too late tonight to retreive it before the office closed.

• The Stray Radio Chat Room is actually getting people to visit. If you haven't checked it out, you should. I'm on most weekday nights, from 6pm till whenever (CST). Pat will be a rare presence.

• Andre 3000/Outkast's "Roses" is not as sweet and romantic as the title would suggest. It is, nonetheless, a great song.

• 'Bowling For Columbine' sucks.

I accidentally deleted my whole post. But that's the jest of it.
