All the beautiful liars

Hideaki Anno has officially lost his fucking mind.

And not in the good way.

[Disregard the rambling that were once here - it's all good now. Go goodness.]

(also, thanks again Michael)

Where the red line lies...

Goddammit - someone already made a comic about me detailing such compelling stories from my life as "Brendan Brushes His Teeth". Now what am I going to do?

I'll tell you what I'm going to do now - sue their mufugging asses off.

Well, I'm now officially moved in to my apartment on the wondrous Michigan Avenue. It's good times, albeit slightly lonely. The first night alone was the worst, but since then I've grown rather accustomed to it again. Interestingly, OnR/SR listener David was my big source of companionship that first week. We saw The Matrix Revolutions together, so that was cool (hanging out - not the movie). No molestation yet - but I think he's getting a bit more interested.

*cough*

The biggest issue I had was the lack of internet and television. The horror. However, the TV has been connected and while I don't have DSL just quiet yet (I will the 19th... *sigh*) I do have a phone jack and so I've resigned myself to using Dial-up just a *little* bit longer. I do have a question though for those more tech savvie than I - I' m using my old ISP, which is still being used by my family back home. Now, I'm using a different access number - but since it's the same account am I fucking up the net access for my family? :\ Oh well.. I guess I'll find out sooner or later. Anyway, once I get DSL going I intend on playing around with more multimedia features for Iris. I'm considering re-instituting my webcam.. But I'll have to think about that one..

Anyway, I did go home last weekend, like I talked about last entry, and it was a nice visit. Even unexpectedly bumped into Karen at the mall (strange, strange, coincidence..) It was kind of strange. Kind of. I guess I'm already pretty used to life in Chicago now. Today, after sending in my History test via email at 7am after working straight through the night (there's something to be said about procrastination..) I hit the red line and ended up on the outskirts of boystown - which has some very cool shops around. I picked up a vintage sweater and a hideously cool cowboy shirt (don't ask..). I also visited a comic book shop to get Sarah a gift and check things out. I ended up picking up 2 issues of Giant Robot. I almost forgot, but Giant Robot is *the* most primal inspiration for Otaku no Radio, and to a larger extent Stray Radio. I haven't read it in over 3 years after being a dedicated fan for a while - mostly because I started trying my hand at fanzines in the same vein, starting in print, then web, before settling down as a radio show with the same basic content, just vocalized. Giant Robot just oozes cool and style, and it's with great regret that I've sat out of their evolution for so long. The creators/editors have come a *long* way since issue 1 (photocopied, fold & staple) to issue 30 (color, glossy paper, bound). And the magazine, though packed with a helluva lot more ads, is still just as kick ass as I remember it. I initially just glanced through issue 30, but when I stopped to actually *look* I fell back in love with it, and picked up issue 29 that was lying with a few others behind it. Too bad there weren't more back issues.. Oh, and it was also at this comic shop that I stumbled upon these weird "Brendan" mini-comics. Nice.

Another cool thing about living here though, is that it really has made class more enjoyable - I'm not sure why exactly. I guess commuting was making me cranky, or crazy. But I don't dread my classes as much as I used to. Score.

At any rate, I'll definitely be updating this regularly, almost daily, from now on because it's pretty much my own way of venting save the daily chat with Sarah and periodic calls to and from friends and family. Hopefully there'll be enough fun stuff happening to keep this place interesting.

Ciao.

From my window.. the SEARS tower looks a lot further away than it is.. :-\
