This has been an interesting week, I must say. I'm glad it's almost over.
Yesterday I was in Chicago's Chinatown. I hadn't been there in about a year, so it was nice to be visiting again. We got lunch and "Joh Yee's Noodle House". I got some strange Korean stone cooked bowl that seemed to still be cooking when they brought it out to me. The stone bowl was extremely hot and I could smell the rice at the bottom start to burn >_< Aside from the burning rice and strange sauces, the beef tasted off as well.. and all in all I was very sad I didn't just get the tempura udon like I had considered. I guess that's what I get for wanting to try something new :P
Although the meal, well, sucked the drinks were awesome. This place seems to be known for their fruit smoothie-esque drinks and other innovations. I had a frozen green tea drink (sorta like a green tea shake) which was very good, and then a frozen iced honeydew drink. Both were really, really good. I'd probably go back there to try to udon, and just stay away from the Korean section of the menu ^_^;
After lunch I just wandered around Chinatown looking for cool things. I bought a Pucca change purse because.. well.. I don't know why. It was really cute and I wanted a change purse and it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'll just have to be careful who I show this to. People may get the wrong idea. *cough* But I like it, and I think it's fun so.. whatever.
I stopped at the candy store Aji Ichiban, which turned out to be a really weird experience. The two young girls who worked there seemed to think everyone in the store was trying to steal something. Whenever I had my back to them one would rush over and watch what I was doing, which became difficult when more people entered the store. It was amusing watching them hop back and forth between us. Amusing and really surreal. At one point I was weighing the candy I had in my bag (you pay by the pound) and I was about to go back for some more when the worker came up to me, took the bag and taped it shut and handed it back to me. I was like, "Uh.. yeah. Well, I was going to get some more but whatever.." Weird.. Oh well, I got my candy anyway.
I also got an issue of GQ Taiwan.. which was interesting because it seems like all the non-US GQ issues are full of naked women... :-\

Tonight it ended. After about 5 years of friendship, Alex and I are officially "seperated" (I hate that word). I sent the email 3 minutes ago. And although it hurt to push "Send" - I don't regret it. Not speaking to him for the last 2 weeks made me think I could just ignore it, I suppose.. that it was just fade on its own. But that wasn't fair. At any rate, this was the end and no, there will be no future reconciliation. I feel like I'm going to throw up, and yet I also feel like a terrible burden has been lifted from my chest. Ironic.
*sigh* Well, in happier news in The Saga of Brendan I purchased a new camera off eBay tonight. I took a 20 minute bathroom break during match class today to run to the computer lab to bid on a Canon ZR10 - and lost it. Then tonight when I got home I started perusing the Buy It Now cameras on eBay, when I stumbled across this. Except it wasn't $1099 --- it was less than HALF that price. Kick. Ass. It will need a bit of repair work, but the repair has nothing to do with the recording ability, and I may just put off repairing it for a while because, frankly, I don't really need the broken part right away. Kick ass. I can't wait to get it in my hot little hands. 1.3 lbs?! Christ, my camera right now weighs like 6lbs. 1.3 will feel like nothing at all. Go Mini DV!
Any Otaku no Radio "Foreign Correspondent Finiak" fans here? Remember how we had voicemail from Finiak during the first half of Season 1? Miss your weekly dose of Finiak's randomness? Well, here's something to tide you over for a bit. It's the Drunken Finiak Voicemail. I got this voicemail on my cell phone about a week ago at like 1am... Woo Drunken Finiak!!
Speaking of Otaku no Radio, the Season 1 (& 2) CD set will go on sale THIS FRIDAY. Sorry about this huge delay, which probably killed what little market there was for these CDs, but it had to do with a lot of personal things and the fact that I wasn't too sure how to go about setting this up. I decided the best, easiest and most legal way would be to use eBay as a middleman - so here's the deal, there will be an initial series of 20 CD sets put on dutch auction, with Buy It Now set at $13 (includes s/h). If all 20 sell out, I'll put another 20 on, and so on. If you cannot use eBay we'll work something else out.
Now time to watch '24' :)

The magic show I did for my mom's second grade class, the one I mentioned below, went very well. The kids were a great audience and very receptive of what I was doing. They were enjoying themselves and I was enjoying performing for them. So it was a good combination. Now one of my mom's aids wants me to perform for her kid's birthday party... I don't want to do birthday parties >_<
Spirited Away has only been back in theaters for 3 days and I've already seen it twice more. Bringing my shameless grand total of viewings of this film to.. 8 times. And I'm hoping to be seeing it again this Friday with Karen and Alyssa... which takes me to 9. In which case I'll see it once more to bring it to an even 10, before the DVD comes out - when all bets are off and I stop counting (I have a penchant for re-watching movies I love an absurd number of times...).
So yeah, Pat loved Spirited Away so much on Friday that as soon as it was over he said, "That was so fucking cool! Want to see it again tomorrow?!" - since I ended up not being able to see it this weekend with the girls, I of course said sure :P So Saturday night again found myself and Pat, as well as Amber, Rob and Sean, at AMC for the 10:40pm show of Spirited Away. Everyone loved it. Sean didn't like the first half, but he loved the ending half enough to make up for it and wanted to see it again ^_^
I went to church today.. the first time in like a month or so. I decided that I was heading to hell way too quickly so adding a little speed bump today wouldn't be so bad. But I quickly regretted my decision and decided that going to church actually acclerates my descent to hell because all I do is stand there thinking about how stupid all these new attempts at making Catholicism 'nicer' or 'modern' are. It's too.. touchy. I don't want to hold hands with strangers every 5 seconds. Goddamn. Feeling nothing but contempt for everything I'm watching happen at church cannot be good for my soul :(
Grace's advances towards me became a bit more overt this weekend. On Saturday I was leaving the group to go home around 3am, and I stopped to talk to her and she was showing me some new rings she bought when she was in Chicago and telling me about what she did. I made a random comment like, "Ahh.. good times." and there was a quick beat, then she coyly smiled and said, "Ohh.. I was going to say something perverted but I probably shouldn't." I said, "No, go ahead..." and she said, "Well, I was going to say I can think of a lot of things we can do to have good times." ...
*cough*
Frankly, I was caught off gaurd. I was tired, had had class and worked 4 hours that night, and was ready to go home and go to bed. So I told the lame truth, since making up a good lie would have taken too many brain cells.. I told her I was really tired and had to get going. I think it's starting to get awkward now.
In other news... I'm getting very excited about Anime Central 2003 :)
